Alwan الوان
In her latest project Emma Nelson, Ghaeth Almaghoot and David Mackor partner to create beautiful narratives told via the means of voice, clarinet, duduk and lute. The word ‘alwan’ translates to colours in arabic, this is something they explore within their music finding colours, tones and nuances within their repertoire. The ensemble performs music ranging from traditional, folk, renaissance through the classical era, the notion of fusion is something the ensemble routinely explores which encourages the breaking of boundaries, showcasing different cultures.
The East Complex
The East Complex is a three-act dramatic work consisting of an opera within a drama. This is a master project of both Riles Walsh (MMus Composition, Royal Conservatory Ghent) and Stefan Aleksić (MA Drama, KASK School of Art). They are joined by scenographer & theatremaker Yannick Verweij and an international and diverse group of artists, students and young professionals from various conservatoires and art schools.
Emma takes the role of Agnieszka Petrowska who struggles with challenges surrounding immigration, integration, work pressures, social pressures, mental issues, sexual assault and ultimately resorts to creating her own deluded reality to seize some control.
The production will take place in Ghent Opera, Lullyzaal, Belgium.
ROAM Boris Acket installation
ROAM is back! A casual evening of groundbreaking classical music where classical music is approached in a new way. Audiovisual artist Boris Acket is guest curator. Four of his impressive light installations form the core of the evening, with performances by Joep Beving, Jameszoo, Binkbeats, Genevieve Murphy, Lumus Instruments and Slagwerk Den Haag, among others, interacting with them. In their performances, these established artists collaborate with students of Codarts Rotterdam and the Willem de Kooning Academy.

Nationale Opera en Ballet
Emma works regularly within the opera chorus, performing both operas and choral works.
This season 22/23 she has performed Bizet’s Carmen, Puccini’s Turandot, Poulenc’s Gloria and Verdi’s Messa da Requiem.

IMMIX Vocal Ensemble
Previously the artists of NKK NXT, the ensemble now continues under the name IMMIX Vocal Ensemble, the word “immix” conveying their mixture of voice types, genres and also disciplines.

Bloom – A sequence of gatherings NKK NXT 2020-2021 production. The Nederlands Kamerkoor trainee members, of which Emma was one, created a performance centred around togetherness; be it digitally or live. The performance is still available to be viewed On Demand.

Wende Snijders koor
Hou me vast – Wende Snijders with the Nederlands Kamerkoor NXT. A piece composed for the singer and ensemble, recently performed at De Wildernis pilot shows for test audiences. The collaboration between Wende and NKK NXT was released in December 2020. The De Wildernis tour continued its second phase in September 2021 and final tour dates ran from in January – November 2022.
